Why I Wrote "Discerning Love": Sharing the Light God Gave Me

When I first sat down to write this book, I never imagined I would one day share my story so openly. In fact, I didn’t set out to write a book — I set out to heal.

Like many women of faith, I longed for temple marriage, an eternal companion, and a family built on gospel principles. But my path was not what I expected. As a first-generation Filipino-American, a military daughter, and someone who has walked through divorce, heartbreak, and deep disappointment, I came to learn that true love isn’t something you simply find — it’s something you become ready to receive.

As I knelt in prayer through some of my darkest moments, the Lord gently taught me truths I had never fully understood before — about agency, accountability, grace, healing, and preparation. Little by little, He gave me light in places where I once felt only darkness.

And as I healed, I began to feel something stir inside of me: a desire to share the light the Lord had given me. This book is my offering — not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve seen how powerful it can be when we allow God to rewrite our love stories with His grace at the center.

I know this book may not be for everyone. But it is for those who are ready — ready to heal, ready to grow, and ready to change their love story with God.

It’s for those who feel a pull in their hearts to approach dating and relationships differently — with eternal perspective, courage, and trust in the Savior’s timing.
